Her passion for walking through breathtaking landscapes fuels her energy and creativity, which she weaves into her yoga practice. Yet, it is the love and support of her family that truly ignites her spirit.

Question:

Asya, tell us how long you have been practicing yoga? When did you decide to try aerial yoga?

Answer:

I first attended a yoga class by chance 8 years ago. At that time, I never imagined it would become an inseparable part of my life. In the beginning, I struggled with the poses, thinking I looked awkward and silly, but over time, things started to come naturally. Nowadays, I even prefer practicing yoga with my eyes closed, because it’s not about how you look, but how you feel. I have been practicing aerial yoga for 6 years, and that was no coincidence. It was a deliberate choice—I found a studio, and there I met Vera Hitova, whose enthusiasm helped make aerial yoga an integral part of my practice.

Question:

Who can practice yoga?

Answer:

Anyone can practice yoga. For me, yoga is about opening your heart to goodness, love, and your own strength, bringing light into your life, and realizing that you are the one who can make it happen. One of the principles of yoga is ahimsa—non-violence—so we perform poses only as far as our body allows us each day.

Question:

How often can I practice yoga?

Answer:

It may sound cliché, but once yoga becomes part of your life, you will feel an inner need to practice. To maintain our inner fire, it’s important to be consistent—both on the mat and in our thoughts and actions outside of it.

Question:

What makes aerial yoga different?

Answer:

Aerial yoga helps us stretch our body in a fun way, improves cardiovascular health and circulation, and aligns the spine. Using the hammock, we mobilize our joints and strengthen our muscles. And not least, it changes our perspective—we get to see the world upside down.
